Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team split a double-header with the Hilltoppers of West Liberty University at home on Saturday afternoon.
In the first game GSC managed just two hits and committed four errors as they fell to West Liberty 5-0.
West Liberty's scoring came in the first inning scoring one run, another run in the second, two runs in the third inning, and a run in the fourth as they picked up the shutout victory over GSC.
Taylor Gilliland and
Ally Brown had the Lady Pioneers only two hits.
Sidney Shepherd pitched 6.0 innings giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out two batters.
Game two was a much different story as GSC tallied six hits scoring five runs while
Ally Brown pitched a shutout as the Lady Pioneers took the second game 5-0.
Glenville State took an early 3-0 lead in the first as
Raven Greer doubled scoring
Taylor Gilliland and
McKenzie Edmonds and then
Miranda Cropp doubled to center field as
Raven Greer crossed the plate.
GSC's other two runs came in the third as
Miranda Cropp hit a two run homer, her second of the year, scoring Jerri Potter as Glenville State notched the 5-0 win.
Miranda Cropp went 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI's while McKenbzie Edmonds went 1-for-3 and
Raven Greer finished 1-for-2 with two RBI's.
Ally Brown collected her eighth win as she pitched the entire game allowing just three hits and striking out two batters.
Glenville State (13-28, 7-15) will return to action next Saturday, April 22
nd as they hit the road to take on the University of Charleston Golden Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
