Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a double-header on the road Sunday afternoon at Notre Dame College.
In game one of the day GSC fell behind after the first inning as the Falcons scored three runs as they led 3-0.
The Lady Pioneers then went scoreless for the next five innings as Notre Dame added five more runs in the sixth as GSC fell 8-0.
The Lady Pioneers only managed two hits and committed one error while Notre Dame finished with nine hits.
Raven Greer and
Hayley Olson had the only hits for GSC.
Miranda Cropp pitched 5.0 innings allowing six hits and five runs.
In game two Notre Dame again jumped out to a 2-0 after the first inning.
Glenville State got on the scoreboard in the fourth as
Ally Brown hit a two run homerun, her first of the season, scoring
Kim Ellis and tied things up at 2-2.
The Lady Pioneers then took their first lead in the seventh inning as
Ally Brown singled to left field which scored
Hayley Olson as GSC led 3-2. However Notre Dame came back in the bottom of the seventh and tied it up at 3-3 as we headed into extra innings.
Neither team would score in the eighth inning but the Falcons would end the game in the ninth off of a single down the right field line as GSC fell, 4-3.
Glenville State had nine hits in the game while Notre Dame finished with five hits.
Ally Brown went 2-for-3 with three RBI's and a homerun while
Mackenzie Smith went 2-for-4.
Ally Brown pitched 8.1 innings allowing five hits, four runs, and three strike outs. Â
Glenville State (9-21, 4-10) will return to action this Wednesday, April 5
th as they travel to West Virginia Tech for a double-header at 3:00 p.m.
