Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team dropped two close games on the road Monday evening at West Virginia State University.
Game one saw the Lady Pioneers struggle batting as they managed just four hits while giving up six to the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State as they fell 3-0.
West Virginia State scored all of their runs in the third inning.
Mackenzie Smith,
Cassidy Taylor,
Dallas Kilgore, and
Kim Ellis all recorded a hit in the contest for GSC.
Ally Brown pitched the entire game allowing three runs on six hits with one strike out.
Glenville State out hit the Yellow Jackets in the second game as the Lady Pioneers racked up nine hits and allowing just four for West Virginia State but came up short extra innings 2-1.
The Lady Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as
Taylor Brumfield hit her third homerun of the year.
Both teams then went scoreless until the sixth inning when West Virginia State homered as they knotted the game up at 1-1 which also sent the game into extra innings as neither team scored in the seventh.
After GSC failed to score in the top of the eighth WVSU would end the game in the bottom of the eighth off of a double to center field as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Lady Pioneers 2-1.
McKenzie Edmonds went 2-for-4 while
Taylor Brumfield went 1-for-3 with a homerun.
Hayley Olson also racked up two hits for GSC.
Miranda Cropp pitched the entire game as she allowed two runs on four hits and struck out four batters.
Glenville State (13-32, 7-19) will host the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 26
th at 4:00 p.m. at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
