Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team managed just five hits in two games as they dropped a double-header at home on Wednesday afternoon to the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan.
GSC totaled five hits in game one while giving up 11 hits to the Bobcats as the Lady Pioneers fell 11-2 in six innings.
West Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 7-0 lead before GSC got on the scoreboard.
The Lady Pioneers first run came in the fifth when
Ally Brown grounded out to second base scoring
Hayley Olson. However WVWC would add three more runs in the sixth as they led 11-1.
Miranda Cropp then hit her third homerun of the year however GSC fell 11-2.
Ally Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Miranda Cropp went 1-for-2 with a homerun.
Sidney Shepherd pitched 3.1 innings allowing six runs on five hits.
Game two saw West Virginia Wesleyan's Sayaka Foley throw a no-hitter as the Bobcats took the second game 9-1 in five innings.
The Bobcats held a 9-0 lead after four. Glenville State finally got on the scoreboard in fifth off of a
Cassidy Taylor sacrifice fly to center field as
Madison Oney scored but the Lady Pioneers fell 9-1.
The Bobcats finished with 13 hits in game two.
Ally Brown pitched 1.2 innings giving up six runs on six hits.
Glenville State (13-34, 7-21) will return to action this weekend on Saturday, April 29
th as they host Concord University on Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
