Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC softball team split a double-header with the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State on Saturday at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
Glenville State would take a 1-0 lead in the second inning off of a solo homerun from
Raven Greer in game one of the afternoon.
GSC added two more runs in the fifth inning as
McKenzie Edmonds hit a double scoring
Taylor Gilliland and
Mackenzie Smith singled scoring
McKenzie Edmonds as they went on to win the first game 3-0.
The Lady Pioneers racked up eight hits while West Virginia State had four hits.
Raven Greer went 2-for-3 with a homerun and RBI while
Mackenzie Smith went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Ally Brown picked up her sixth win on the mound as she allowed four hits and had four strike outs.
Glenville State again took a 1-0 lead in game two in the second inning as
Tori Ward scored as
Miranda Cropp earned an RBI.
However West Virginia State tied it up at 1-1 in the top of the third inning but GSC came right back and added two runs in the bottom of the third as the Lady Pioneers held a 3-1 lead.
The Yellow Jackets then scored three runs in fourth inning as they went on to take game two from the Lady Pioneers 4-3.
GSC finished with nine hits and committed an error while West Virginia State finished with 11 hits and two errors.
McKenzie Edmonds went 2-for-4 with an RBI while
Raven Greer and
Miranda Cropp each had an RBI.
Tori Ward pitched 4.0 innings allowing seven hits and three runs.
Glenville State (11-23, 5-11) will host the Golden Eagles of the University of Charleston tomorrow Sunday, April 9
th at 1:00 p.m. in a double-header.
