Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer softball team dropped a double-header to MEC foe the University of Charleston on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Pioneers finished game one with six hits and gave up 12 hits to the Golden Eagles.
UC took the early lead in the game after one as they scored two runs to lead 2-0. The Golden Eagles added one run in the third and another in the fifth as they held a 4-0 lead over GSC.
The Lady Pioneers would score two runs in the in the fifth as
Hannah Wright homered scoring
Taylor Gilliland but it wasn't enough as GSC fell 4-2.
Hannah Wright went 1-for-3 with a homerun and RBI while
Ally Brown and
McKenzie Edmonds both went 2-for-4 in the game.
Miranda Cropp pitched all 7.0 innings allowing 12 hits, four runs, and had five strike outs.
In game two GSC gave up 24 hits and allowed 14 runs as they fell 14-2 to UC.
Glenville State's scores came in the fourth as
Taylor Gilliland singled scoring
Hannah Wright and in the seventh as
Mackenzie Smith singled scoring Jerri Potter.
Raven Greer went 2-for-3 while
Taylor Gilliland also finished 2-for-3. GSC managed just nine hits in the game.
Ally Brown pitched 2.2 innings allowing six hits and four runs.
Glenville State (11-25, 5-13) will return to action on Tuesday, April 11
th as they travel to Ohio Valley for a double-header at 2:00 p.m.Â
