Volleyball Drops Two Games at Hillsdale Tournament on Friday

Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer Volleyball team kicked off the start of their 2017 season at the Hillsdale Tournament on Friday as they took on Findlay and Saginaw Valley State.

In their first match against Findlay, GSC would drop the first set 25-13 despite playing well as the Lady Pioneers racked up 10 kills but had nine costly errors.

In the second set the Lady Pioneers fell short by just two points as Findlay took it 25-23. Findlay would then defeat GSC in the third and final set 25-14.

Senior Hailey Wolff and Bailey Brawner each had seven kills in the contest while Jazaray Clark-Casto chipped in with six. Madison Gargus led GSC with 11 assists while Allison Parski had 10.

Ai Miyazaki had a game high 17 digs while Bailey Brawner finished the game with seven.

In the Lady Pioneers second game of the day they took on Saginaw Valley State.

GSC would drop the first set 25-14. Saginaw Valley State then took the second set by six points 25-19 and the Lady Pioneers would fall in the third and final set 25-23 despite having 10 kills in the set while Saginaw Valley State had nine.

Bailey Brawner had another good game for GSC as she led the team in kills with eight and also finished with eight digs on the night. Jazaray Clark-Casto had two blocks while Madison Gargus finished with 12 assists and Allison Parski had 11.

Ai Miyazaki had a game high 11 digs on the night.

Glenville State (0-2) will take on Michigan Tech at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and then Hillsdale at 2:00 p.m.
