Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer volleyball team suffered their first MEC Conference loss of the season Friday night on the road to the Cavaliers of UVa-Wise, 3-1.
The Cavaliers would take the first set 25-12. GSC and UVa-Wise both had seven kills in set one however the Lady Pioneers committed 16 errors.
Glenville State would bounce back in the second set as they took it 25-23. The Lady Pioneers had 44 attacks in set two and finished with 12 kills. Â
However UVa-Wise would then take the third set 25-20 and would finish off the Lady Pioneers in the fourth set 25-20.
Glenville State finished with 42 kills but committed 39 errors on 178 attacks while the Cavaliers finished with 47 kills with just 15 errors on 141 attacks.
Jazaray Clark-Casto led the Lady Pioneers with 14 kills while
Bailey Brawner chipped in with 12 kills.
Haley Wolff had three serve aces in the contest while Chase
Cooksey finished with two blocks.
Madison Gargus led the team in assists with 35 while
Bailey Brawner led GSC in digs with 19.
Glenville State (0-8, 0-1) will return to action Saturday, September 23
rd as they travel to Concord University for a 1:00 p.m. matchup with the Mountain Lions.
