Buckhannon, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer volleyball team went on the road Tuesday evening and earned a big road victory as they defeated the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 24-26, and 25-23).
Glenville State (6-16, 2-12) finished the night with 51 kills on 196 attacks with just 21 errors in the win. West Virginia Wesleyan (7-19, 5-9) had 60 kills on 203 attacks and committed 27 errors.
Set one saw GSC tally 16 kills as they won it, 26-24.
In the second set, the Lady Pioneers held a slight lead at 16-15. GSC then went on a 9-6 run to end the set as they won it, 25-22, as they took a 2-0 lead.
The Bobcats would battle in the third set and end up taking it, 26-24. GSC tallied 13 kills in the set while WVWC had 15 kills.
In the fourth set, the Bobcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead and later stretched it to 10-4. However, Glenville State, then outscored the Bobcats 7-1 as they tied it up at 11 all.
Later in the set both teams again found their selves knotted up at 22-22. But a kill from Skyler Mace and
Chase Cooksey would seal the win as they took it, 25-23.
Glenville State had seven team blocks while West Virginia Wesleyan had six.
Jezaray Clark-Casto had a game-high 15 kills while
Skylar Mace chipped in with 11 kills.
Hannah McKown also had a nice game as she recorded a season high 10 kills.
Madison Gargus led GSC in assists with 41 while
Ai Miyazaki had 30 digs.
West Virginia Wesleyan was led by Ebonie Hicks as she recorded 14 kills.
Mackenzie Wheeler had 30 assists while Hannah Bradford 41 digs.
Glenville State (6-16, 2-12) will return to action on Friday, November 2
nd when they travel to Fairmont State for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Fighting Falcons.
