Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer Baseball team dropped a double-header to the Rams of Shepherd University on Monday at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
Shepherd took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning in game one. The Rams added two more runs in the third and fourth as they held a 3-0 lead over GSC.
Shepherd created separation in the fifth as they scored seven runs on six hits as they took big 10-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth
Anthony Jarvis would put the Pioneers on the scoreboard as he hit a solo homerun, his third of the year. Later, in the same inning,
Zach Bacon homered for the first time this season as GSC made it 10-2.
Both teams would go scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings as the Rams defeated the Pioneers 10-2.
Glenville State tallied five hits and committed one error while Shepherd racked up 10 hits and also committed one error.
Brady Wilkinson pitched 4.1 innings allowing eight runs on seven hits and struck out four batters.
Anthony Jarvis finished 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Zach Bacon also went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Christian Hedinger,
Tyler Phillips, and
Carter Boswell all recorded a hit.
Game two, would also belong to the Rams as they scored 13 runs in the first three innings and never looked back as they built a 13-1 lead.
Shepherd went on to register 18 hits while Glenville State tallied seven hits as they Rams took the second game, 20-3.
Anthony Jarvis continued his strong afternoon as he went 2-for-2.
Ryan Colaw went 1-for-1 with a two run homer.
Bryan Bayliss had the other RBI for the Pioneers.
Wesley Stauffer pitched 1.2 innings giving up seven runs on four hits with two strike outs.
Glenville State (4-13, 1-3) will host the Senators of Davis & Elkins at 4:00 p.m. this Wednesday, March 21.
