West Liberty, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team split their two game series on Monday with the Hilltoppers of West Liberty University.
Glenville State scored three runs on just two hits as they defeated West Liberty in game one, 3-2.
The Pioneers scored all three runs in the fifth inning.
Jordan Braniff hit a double which scored
Carter Boswell,
Bryan Bayliss, and
Logan Henderson.
The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth off of one hit as they trailed GSC, 3-2.
Glenville State went scoreless in the sixth and seventh however they also held West Liberty scoreless as they took the first game, 3-2.
Brady Wilkinson earned his first win of the season on the mound as he pitched 5.0 innings while only allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six batters.
Jordan Braniff finished the day 1-for-4 with three RBI's while
Bryan Bayliss went 1-for-2.
GSC would fall in game two of the afternoon by a final of, 7-1.
Glenville State recorded four hits and committed an error while West liberty finished with 10 hits and an error.
The Hilltoppers took an early 2-0 lead as they scored a run in the first and a run in the third.
West Liberty would add to their lead in the fourth and fifth as they scored a run in each inning as they led, 4-0.

Christian Hedinger hit a grounder to third base scoring
John Peloro as GSC made it, 4-1.
The Hilltoppers put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth as they scored three more runs defeating the Pioneers, 7-1.
James Finnemore pitched 3.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits while striking out four batters.
Christian Hedinger went 1-for-3 with the lone RBI for GSC while
John Peloro,
Anthony Jarvis, and
Bryan Bayliss each recorded a hit.
Glenville State (7-14, 4-4) will return to action on Friday, March 30
th, when they host the Falcons of Notre Dame College at 1:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Complex.
