Elkins W.Va. – The GSC Pioneer Baseball team lost a road contest at Davis & Elkins on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 14-3.

Scoring began in the bottom of the first inning as the Senators put three runs on the board. In the top of the second inning, GSC would get two runs back as
Anthony Jarvis scored on an RBI ground-out by
Carter Boswell. Shortly after,
Christian Hedinger would score as
Zach Bacon grounded out to shortstop.

Heading into the bottom of the second inning, D&E would lead 3-2.

The Senators would score another three runs in the bottom of the second inning to push their lead to 6-2. Scoring would resume in the top of the fourth inning as
Carter Boswell would single and eventually score on a wild pitch. However, D&E would score a run in the bottom of the fourth to move their lead to 7-3. The Senators would add another run in the bottom of the seventh inning to push their lead to 8-3.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Senators would score six more runs to push their lead to 14-3.

Austin Mathews would take the loss on the mound while throwing 3.2 innings, giving up six hits, and seven runs while striking out three batters.

The Pioneers (10-20) will return to action Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 as they host the University of Charleston (19-13) for a four-game series.
