Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer Volleyball team went on the road Friday evening and defeated the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers in their season opener, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17).
GSC (1-0) finished with a total of 31 kills in the contest while committing 13 errors. AB (0-1) had 33 total kills on the night but had 22 errors.
Set one would be the closest of the evening but eventually GSC would end up on top, 25-23 as senior
Allison Parski scored the last point for the Lady Pioneers.
The second set saw GSC take a 12-7 lead as freshman
Skylar Mace came away with a kill from
Allison Parski. The Lady Pioneers then went on to build a 20-12 lead before winning set number two by a final of, 25-18.
In the third and final set, both teams would go back and forth and become knotted at 13-13. GSC then went down by two, 15-13, but would rally and score the next three points as they led 16-15. The Lady Pioneers then went on a 9-2 run down the stretch to claim set number three, 25-17.
Freshman Skyler Mace had a great debut as she had a game high 12 kills.
Bailey Brawner and
Chase Cooksey both chipped in with six kills each.
Madison Gargus led GSC in assists with 24 on the night. Gargus, also had a team high, eight digs.
Chase Cooksey ended the night with two solo blocks while Skyler Mace also had a solo block.
Alderson Broaddus was led by Ashlyn McDonald as she had a team high eight kills.

st and September 1
st when they travel to play in the Edinboro Tournament. GSC will take on Edinboro on the 31
st at 5 p.m. and on the 1
st they will take on Lock Haven at 10 a.m. and Edinboro again at 4 p.m.Â
