Glenville, W.Va. – On Friday evening, the Lady Pioneers faced off against the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan in a conference match up. The Lady Pioneers would fall three sets to one (25-21), (25-23), (25-21) and (25-20) pushing the Blue and White to two and eleven on the year.
In the first set, the Lady Pioneers would go neck and neck with the Bobcats before GSC took the first two-point lead 9-7 with
Jezaray Clark-Casto's first service ace of the match. Hannah Mckown would add another service ace to lead the Bobcats 17-15. The Bobcats would then find a way to take the set 25-21.
WVWC took the first lead in set two before GSC would take the lead 6-3. The Lady Pioneers would continue to rally leading the set 14-9 before the Bobcats would score five straight points. GSC would respond to extend their lead 19-14 before they would take set two 25-23.
The Bobcats would again take the early lead before forcing the first GSC timeout trailing 11-7. GSC would fight back to tie the match 18 all until the Bobcats regain control of the match for the win - 25-21.
In the fourth set, the Lady Pioneers would continue to snap back with the Bobcats in a 15 all set, The Bobcats would take the lead 23-17 before the Lady Pioneers would rally back and fall 25-20.
The Bobcats would out kill the Lady Pioneers 50-45,
Karlei Shaver lead the Blue and White with 18 kills and
Skylar Mace following behind at 10 kills.
The Lady Pioneers would have eight service aces, three by Clark-Casto and
Lindsay Winkler each, along with Mckwon with two.
Mckown would dig out 13 digs along with ten by Winkler.
Chase Cooksey would have two solo blocks along with five assisted with Mace,
Sophie Shifferly, Clark-Casto and
Bailey Hanson.
The Lady Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow morning at 10am to spring back against Davis &Elkins.
