Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers end away season with a victory over the Mountain Lions of Concord University in five sets, (25-18), (25-18), (25-20), (25-13) and (15-13). Both
Karlei Shaver and
Skylar Mace would hit the double-double mark.
Kills by Mace would get the early 3-1 lead for the Blue and White as Shaver and
Seanna Stump would add to the Lady Pioneer score. Concord would answer back to gain the first Mountain Lion lead of the match and take the first set 25-18.
In the second set, Mace would mimic the first set to get another 3-1 lead however Shaver and Mace would team up with
Sophie Shifferly four straight kills. The Lady Pioneers would rally together to take the second set also 25-18.
In the third set, both teams would scratch point by point each before the Mountain Lions notched three points in a row. The Blue and White answered back with six kills in a row to take the third set (25-20).
The Mountain Lions eager to push another set, targeted an early lead to take the fourth set 25-13. CU would double GSC kills 16-8 in the set.
In the fifth and final set, and match take all; the Lady Pioneers out killed the Mountain Lions just 11-10. Each team would go back and fourth before Kills by
Chase Cooksey and
Skylar Mace would end the five set match up.
Mace dugs ten digs and 20 kills on the night, along with a block attack and ervice Ace.
Shaver notched 14 digs with 29 kills earning a double-double three match up in a row.
Sophie Shifferly 59 assists on the night.
The Lady Pioneers will return to action Friday November 15
th at 6 pm to square off against West Liberty University.
