Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers fell in three straight sets in the Waco against the Hilltoppers of West Liberty University (26-24) (25-19) and (25-9). The Blue and White fall to 5-22 on the year and 2-12 in conference.
The Hilltoppers took an early 4-1 lead before kills by
Skylar Mace and
Karlei Shaver would comeback with kills back to back to take the first Glenville lead at 8-7. Both teams would go back and forth until the Lady Pioneers regained control leading 16-12. West Liberty answered back with five points to take their second lead of the match 17-16. WLU would take the match 26-24. Shaver notched three services aces in the set.
Looking to comeback in the second set, the Blue and White took an early 3-1 lead. West Liberty forced a timeout after a big block by
Sophie Shifferly to maintain their lead, 7-3. Hilltoppers answered back to tie the match eight all and take the lead 14-9. Kills be Seanna stump and
Karlei Shaver would return the score 22-19 before the West Liberty took the match 25-19.
In the third set, the Hilltoppers would continue their momentum to force the first GSC timeout 7-4. WLU made separation with four kills, two service aces and three services aces to lead 17-4. The Lady Pioneers would fall 25-9 in the final set.
Shaver and Mace lead the Blue and White with 8 and 13.
Shifferly held 23 assists and
Hannah McKown with 15 digs on the night.
Kenzie Johnson and
Bailey Hanson lead in block attacks with three and two, respectivly.
The Lady Pioneers will be back in action, November 16
th to take on the undefeated Cardinals of Wheeling University at 10am in the Waco Center. The Blue and White will honor seniors,
Chase Cooksey,
Jezaray Clark-Casto,
Bailey Hanson and
Emilie Jedamski.
