Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneers end their away series with a win over the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan College in four sets (25-13), (25-16), (25-12) and (25-15). The Lady Pioneers would be out killed 46-49 despite having the Bobcats having 20 attacking errors in the match.
GSC improves the season to 4-20 being attaining their first conference win the in season as WVWC falls to 5-18.
The Lady Pioneers would gain an early advantage over the Bobcats as they would have five attacking errors.
Chase Cooksey and
Skylar Mace would have the first two kills on the match leading Wesleyan 10-2, including a service ace by
Hannah McKown. The Blue and White would take the first set win at 25-13.
In the second set, the Blue and White would maintain their lead using their momentum to take the second set 25-16. The Lady Pioneers would have 13 kills in the set by Mace,
Seanna Stump,
Jyra Clark-Casto and Shaver.
In the third set, Wesleyan would gain an early 3-0 advantage before the Blue and White would respond back to tie the set 4-4. The Bobcats would retaliate and gain a 13-6 lead before taking the se 25-12.
Mace would start the set with a kill and service aces by
Kenzie Johnson and McKown leading the Bobcats 10-6. The Lady Pioneers would maintain their lead 20-12 before taking the fourth and final set 25-15.
Mace would lead the Blue and White with 19 kills in the match, along with Shaver falling behind at 16.
McKown would have four service aces on the day with 13 digs.
GSC will return home after a long away series Friday, November 8
th at 7pm to square off against the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University. WVSU comes into the match at 16-11 on the year.
