Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Pioneer Baseball team gave up 13 runs on 13 hits as they fell to the Northwood University Timberwolves on Sunday at the Sue Morris Sports Complex, 13-3
Glenville State (0-2) tallied nine hits on the afternoon while committing one error.
Northwood jumped out to an early 5-0 lead off of four hits in the top of the first inning.
Glenville State got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first as Logan Henderson hit an RBI double to right field as Tyler Phillips crossed the plate making it, 5-1.
In the third, Northwood added six runs off of four hits as they took a commanding 11-1 lead.
The Pioneers then added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth off of four hits as they pulled within eight runs, 11-3.
The bats of the Timberwolves would prove to be too much as they went on to defeat the Pioneers, 13-3.
Northwood finished the contest committing three errors.
Tyler Phillips went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Logan Henderson finished the day going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Brady Wilkinson picked up the loss on the mound as he pitched 2.1 innings allowing 10 runs on seven hits while striking out two batters. Jacob Harmon, who pitched six innings for the Pioneers, had a nice outing as he allowed two runs on five hits and a strike out.
Northwood's Zach Kregel picked up the win on the mound as he pitched five innings allowing three runs on eight hits with three strike outs.
Glenville State (0-2) will return to action tomorrow, Monday the 25th as they host Mercyhurst University in a double-header starting at 1 p.m.
