Baseball Drops Pair of Games on the Road at Shepherd

Shepherdstown, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team dropped a pair of games on the road Sunday to the Shepherd University Rams.

Glenville State tallied six hits in game one of the afternoon while Shepherd finished with 13 hits as they defeated the Pioneers, 10-4.

The Rams took a 7-0 lead over the Pioneers after scoring three runs in the first and four in the third. Glenville State got on the board in the fourth inning as Logan Henderson homered to left field as three runs crossed the plate making it, 7-3.

However, Shepherd responded in the bottom of the fourth as they scored three more runs as they went on to defeat the Pioneers, 10-4. GSC committed four errors in the contest while SU had just one.

Carter Boswell went 2-for-3 while Logan Henderson went 1-for-4 with a three run home run.

Chris Swain pitched 3.0 innings allowing seven runs on nine hits with just one strike out.

Game two also belonged to the Rams. Shepherd racked up 16 hits while GSC finished with five as the Pioneers fell, 15-2.

Glenville State struck first in the first as Carter Boswell grounded out to first base but not before Tre'von Smith crossed the plate as the Pioneers led 1-0.

However, Shepherd scored seven runs in the first and second innings combined as they led 7-1. The Rams then added eight more runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they led, 15-1.

Glenville State added one more run late in the seventh as Zach Lively grounded out to second base which scored Devante Rose. But again the Pioneers would fall, 15-2.  

Devante Rose went 1-for-1 while Zach Lively and Carter Boswell each had an RBI.

Jose Rodriguez pitched 1.2 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out three batters.

Glenville State (2-13, 1-3) will return to action on Tuesday, March 19th as they host Davis & Elkins at 3:30 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
