Box Score 2 Glenville, W.Va. – Glenville State Women's volleyball team are off to a rough start at Concord Tournament.
Game one of the weekend began against Limestone College September 12
thwhere they dropped three straight sets (25-19, 25-21, 27-25). The Saints out killed the Lady Pioneers 39 to 34 with nine total service aces to four.
Skylar Mace and
Karlei Shaver lead the day off notching 15 and 9 kills respectively. Setting them up,
Lindsay Winkler dished out 28 assists.
On the defensive end, Mace, Shaver,
Kenzie Johnson and
Chase Cooksey recorded a service ace each.
Madison Shepherd and Winkler secured seven digs apiece.
Game two of the tournament, the Lady Pioneer's JV team fell to West Virginia State JV 0-3, (25-15, 26-24, 25-16).
In the third game of the Concord Tournament, GSC took on Ohio Valley University and dropped three sets (26-16, 25-17, 25-20). Ohio Valley took down the Lady Pioneers 40 to 25 kills including eight service aces. Looking to make a comeback in the third set, GSC maintained a 10-point lead before eluding 25-20 set loss.
Shaver added 12 kills to end off the night including two service aces, Jazaray Clark-Casto and Johnson contributed a service ace each, where Johnson also piled nine digs.
On the defensive side,
Chase Cooksey recorded three blocks with Bailey Handson and Clark-Casto who tallied two blocks each.
The Lady Pioneers will be back in action September 14
that 9:00AM to take on West Virginia Tech in seek of capturing the first tournament win.
