Glenville, W.Va. – The Pioneers opened their home opening series on two walk-off victories starting the season on a 5-0 streak, first in Pioneer Baseball history.

Game one ended as
Chase Swain hit a solo homerun in extra innings 1-0, as
Johnny Arroyo in game two hit a walk-off single to center scoring Rose from second ending the game at 6-5.
Inside The Box Score
Mathew Mangum and
Tre'von Smith led the hitting barrage with three hits each, both scoring one RBI in the contest.
Tyler Phillips tallied two RBIs off two hits including his homerun.
Jesse Weathers pitched 6.0 scoreless innings as
Chase Swain picked up the win in game one coming in at a zero all match.
Joseph Rubalcaba opened game two as with a slow 5-1 start as
James Finnemore picked up the save pitching six scoreless innings off five hits.
How It Happened
Game One – 1-0
Matthew Mangum would put the Pioneers in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth off of a double to right field and then stealing third. However, off of a hit to third base he would attempt to score but was thrown out at the plate.
In the bottom of the sixth
Ryker Rivera would get on with a single.
Devante Rose came in to pinch run for Rivera take second on a stolen base that would let him advance to third on a
Ryan Rodriguez SAC bunt. Though the Pioneers would leave Rose stranded on base.
Chase Swain entered the game in the seventh in relief of
Jesse Weathers. In the half, the Rams would get their second hit of the contest leaving their man stranded at second.
With one last try to get the Pioneers on the board before heading into extras,
John Peloro would walk followed by a base hit from
Tre'von Smith that would result in Peloro thrown out at second.
Colby Werry then made his appearance pinch running for Smith however, the inning would end as Zack Morris would get out on a double play.
Jumping into extra innings,
Chase Swain would get a hold of one deep to right field off the first pitch to defeat the Rams on a walk off homerun.
Game 2 - 6-5
Jefferson gained an early 3-0 lead as the Rams had bases loaded with CJ Goodz at the plate. Goodz hit a line drive to third that would score all three runners but throw out at third to end the inning.
The Pioneers responded back quick as
Matthew Mangum hit a deep shot over the left field to cut back at their deficit ending the first 3-1.
The Rams extend their lead to 5-1 over the Pioneers off two errors. From there, the momentum of the game would change as Mangum would reach first on an error from the Ram's shortstop.
Tyler Phillips then doubled to left field scoring Mangum after stealing second.
Peloro then pushed Phillips to third off a ground out as
Tre'von Smith would score him off a single to right. Smith then stole second as
Duane Englund drove in Smith off a single to left pulling the Pioneers within one at 5-4.
In the fifth inning,
Tyler Phillips hit a solo homerun to left tying the game at five all.
Both teams would be unable to score before heading into extra innings as Englund hit a single to short in the bottom of the ninth.
Devante Rose would come into pinch run for Englund as
Colby Werry would come into pinch hit laying a sac bunt that moved Rose to second. Arroyo then singles to center scoring Rose on another walk-off victory 6-5.
