Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Pioneer Baseball team dropped game one of the weekend to Lock Haven 3-2 in the ninth with the last out being thrown out at home.

Tyler Phillips 2-for-3 with a solo home run while
Duane Englund went 1-for-3 with the only other RBI in the contest.
Spencer Blackburn pinched hit in the ninth as he went 1-for-1.
James Finnemore pitched 5.0 innings allowing two hits, one run, while striking out six batters. James Rubalcaba gained the loss allowing three hits and two runs while pitching 2.0 innings.
How It Happened
Tyler Phillips gave the Pioneer the early lead in the bottom of the second as he hit a solo homerun to right field as GSC led 1-0.
Lock Haven would get their first hit of the contest in the fourth and we load the bases but
James Finnemore would get three outs as the Pioneers held a 1-0 lead.
Lock Haven then knotted the game up at 1-1 as Jake Mastillo tripled to right scoring Reagan Lawler as we headed into the bottom of the fifth.
Glenville State then re-took the lead in the fifth at 2-1 when
Duane Englund singled to left scoring
Colin Gross as we headed into the sixth.
Lock Haven again tied it up again at 2-2 in the top of the seventh. The later in the inning Lock Haven took their first lead off of a double to center field 3-2 as we headed into the bottom of the inning.
Jump to the bottom of the ninth the Pioneers
Spencer Blackburn would make his second appearance of the season smacking a single to center. Tristin Coots would then enter the game to pinch run.
Shane Talvacchio would hit a gap shot to right as the right fielder made an error, Coots then headed for but was thrown out at the plate as GSC fell, 3-2.
