GLENVILLE – Glenville State College's Lady Pioneers ran their record to 5-0 Monday night, recording a convincing 88-54 victory over the visiting Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats.

Kim Stephens' squad raced out to an immediate 11-0 lead, and carried that momentum into double-figure leads for the duration of the evening.
Re'Shawna Stone nailed a straight-away three-pointer to close the first quarter, giving a GSC a 31-14 lead at the break.
UPJ opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run, cutting the deficit to ten points at 31-21. It would remain at that margin at 35-25, but the Lady Pioneers closed the half on a 12-2 run, taking a 47-27 lead into intermission.
Glenville extended the lead to 65-43 by the end of the third quarter, and rolled through the final stanza to close the win. Their largest lead of the night was the final margin.
Taychaun Hubbard had her strongest night of the campaign, posting team highs with 21 points, three steals, and two blocked shots. She was complemented by
Re'Shawna Stone with 16 points,
Mashayla Cecil 14, and
Aline Fevrier with 10.
Abby Stoller continued to lead the team on the boards with 10 rebounds, and matched Hubbard with two blocked shots of her own.
As a team, GSC shot 34-of-80 (42.5%), including 13-of-35 from beyond the arc (37.1%). Cecil led the way from long range, posting a team-high four three-pointers. Defensively, the Pioneers created 31 UPJ turnovers, creating a wide discrepancy in field goal attempts. UPJ was only get up a total of 50 shots on the evening, connecting on 22. Glenville won the battle in team rebounding, 42-37.
Ashley Norlin and Makalyn Clapper each scored 15 points to lead the Mountain Cats.
Glenville improves to 5-0 with the win, while Pitt-Johnstown falls to 2-3. The Lady Pioneers return to MEC action on Wednesday night, hosting league rival Notre Dame in the Waco Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
