Glenville, W.Va. – Looking to extend their two game hot streak, Glenville Softball will be hosting their second softball tournament this weekend against mid-west competition.

Sitting at 2-4 on the year, the Pioneers enter the tournament with two recent victories against Salem University. Game one in their double header ended in walk off fashion at 7-6 where game two completed the Pioneers sweep at 8-0 in five innings. GSC holds a team .305 offensive attack with 54 hits on the year.
The last time Glenville State and Cedarville met was in Florida last season prior to the historic COVID-19 novel. The contest ended with Glenville on top with 6-5 victory also winning in walk off style. The Yellow Jackets this season enter the contest at 5-3 on the year with a recent sweep against Notre Dame College 8-5 & 10-1.
Carlow University will open their season against Glenville State, a season ago the Celtic's schedule was cut short from COVID-19 ending with t a 2-9 win-loss record. This is the first match up between the Pioneer and Celtics.
Wayne State is also set to open their season at the GSC Softball Tournament facing off against Tiffin, Carlow and Alderson Braoddus prior to meeting with the Pioneers on Sunday. Last season the Warriors were 10-5 defeating Hillsdale College 7-0 along with Tiffin University 7-2 as they were led by Paige Ameel and Amy Claydon with a 2.39 and 1.78 ERA.

Karra Smith and
Catherine Pelfrey each hold nine hits early in the season.
Martinelli leads the Blue and White at the plate with .429, Smith maintains a team high ten RBIs, and Pelfrey has picked up five doubles and hit her first career homerun last weekend.
Kaylen Stenger leads Glenville State in homeruns with two on the season.
Also in the offensive attack, Ashely Fridley leads with a .421 batting average with eight hits and seven runs scored. Fridley on the mound has allowed five earned runs off five hits.
Peyton Wrentz leads the Pioneers in strikeouts with 12 with a 1-1 record.
