Bluefield, VA – Glenville State Baseball (4-1) swept Bluefield State (7-6) in their midweek clash 10-6 and 15-2 while tallying 27 hits on the day.
John Peloro led Glenville State in their offensive attack hitting 6-for-9 including a homerun in game two. Jobacob Harmon and Zack Morris each picked up the wins on the mound in their double header as
Adam Riggleman got the save in a bases loaded final inning situation.

How It Happened
Game One:
The Pioneers opened up the first inning with a quick 3-0 lead as
Tyler Phillips scored both
John Peloro and Mathew Mangum from second and third base. Phillips then scored off
Duane Englund's sac fly from right.
Holding a close game, the Blues would cross an unearned run in the bottom half of the second cutting their deficit just 3-1.
To respond, Phillips and
Tre'von Smith both singled up the middle and scored off a double to left hit by
Shane Talvacchio extending the Pioneers lead 5-1.
Then scoring Mangum in the fourth, Peloro doubled to right but thrown out at third in his attempt to stretch his double into a triple putting GSC ahead 6-1.
Englund opened the fifth on a hit by pitch, then
Devante Rose doubled to left center advancing Englund to third.
Ryan Rodriguez then hit a sacrifice fly to right as GSC held 7-1 lead before Rose added another swipe scoring off a wild pitch.
Then in the foot of the inning, BSU snuck in two runs as GSC maintained an 8-3 hold over the Blues.
In the sixth,
Ryker Rivera would put on a performance, pinch hitting a homerun scoring
Tyler Phillips.
Then fast forward to the end of the seventh and portraying a possible walk off, the Blues scored three runs on three hits. In a bases loaded situation,
Adam Riggleman got the save and out of the jam ending the ball game 10-6.
Game Two:
Mathew Mangum tripled to right center to start the contest and scoring off a double from
John Peloro. In an early bases loaded plot, Peloro scored on a wild pitch along with
Duane Englund who rounded the bases on off a single from Devonte Rose. The Blues scored a lone run in the bottom has as GSC held a 3-1 lead in the first.
The Blue's errors in game two put BSU behind quick,
Colby Werry reached on a Bluefield error with Mangum following with a single to left. Werry then scored off
John Peloro's single hit to the right side. Mangum would then swipe across as
Tre'von Smith singled through the left extending their lead 5-1.
In the third, Rose drew a walk and advancing to third on a muffed throw by the Blue's second basemen and scoring on a wild pitch. But BSU responded while scoring their final run of the game as GSC led 6-2.
The Pioneers added three runs in the fourth holding 9-2 lead until the sixth. Rose drew another walk to start the inning and scored off Werry's single to down the left field line.
John Peloro then slung a three run homerun over left to push the Pioneers ahead 13-2.
In the seventh,
Zach Morris doubled to the left field line as
Ryker Rivera then doubled to center. Morris then scored as R. Rodriguez hit a sac fly to score Morris with Werry scoring Rivera on a single to left. The Pioneers would win 15-2 as
Jacob Harmon earned the win on the mound.
Inside The Bix Score
The Pioneers tallied 27 hits on the day including 12 extra base hits and eight walks.
Tre'von Smith hit 4-for-7 while swiping three bags.
Tyler Phillips went 2-for-2 on the day while also drawing two walks. Mathew Mangum tallied three hits in the double header with
Shane Talvacchio and
Colby Werry each had two.
On the mound,
Zach Morris pitched 4.1 innings earning his fist career win. In his outing Morris tallied eight strikeouts. Ronald Sterns added 1.2 inning while also adding three strikeouts on the day.
Josh Cline and
Duane Englund also made an appearance on the mound in the final inning eaching pitching an out before
Adam Riggleman fixed the last out earning the save.
Jacob Harmon, a senior and native out of Princeton, W.Va. also earned his first career win while pitching his first complete game. Within his backyard at Bowen Field, Harmon gave up just two runs and one walk while sitting two Blues in his outing.
