GSC Travels Up I-79 for MEC Pair

Glenville, W.Va. – GSC Softball will be on the road in a match up against West Virginia Wesleyan College and Davis & Elkins College for a pair of MEC double-header's this weekend.

Pioneer, Bobcat, & Senator Files

Glenville State College will set foot in the weekend with an overall 3-12 record and a conference record of 0-4. Despite the outcomes, the Lady Pioneer's have accumulated a respectable slugging percentage against opponents at .401 while the Lady Pioneer's team batting average sits at .207.

West Virginia Wesleyan College postponed games with Fairmont State and Frostburg State throughout March and will start their season in the MEC battle this weekend with a clean record of 0-0. In the Pioneers and Bobcats last match up in 2019, the Pioneers came out on top 7-6, first victory over Wesleyan in school history.

Davis & Elkins will enter the weekend with an overall and conference record of 2-2. The Senators started their season with a set of losses against Frostburg State in a double-header but found redemption when facing Fairmont State in a double-header by picking up two wins. At the plate, Kailynn Parks leads the Senators holding a .400 batting average. Defensively, Haley Grindstaff obtains a .69 ERA. In the last eighth face-offs between the Pioneer's and Senator's, Glenville has earned two wins while D&E holds six.

Pioneer Highlights

With the sticks, Mackenzie Martinelli leads GSC in batting average with an impressive .458 while Karra Smith has tallied up 15 RBI's to lead the Pioneers.
Catherine Pelfrey has nailed a team high of 17 hits and has drawn in the most walks for the season, racking up seven. Ashley Fridley and Karra Smith also have 16 hits on the season.

Kaelyn Stenger leads the Lady Pioneer's in home runs with two for the season. Celina Maberto holds a 4.25 team high ERA for GSC.
