Full Week For GSC Softball

Glenville, W.Va. – After dropping two pairs of MEC matchups this past weekend, the Pioneers have a quick turnaround and will host Concord University in a midweek clash. Following, Glenville State will then host West Liberty and Wheeling University at the end of the week.

Pioneer, Mountain Lion, Hilltopper & Cardinal Files

After holding tight contests last weekend, the Pioneers dropped to 4-19 overall and 1-11 in conference play falling to division leaders UC and WVSU. Nevertheless, Glenville State improved the team's offensive attack to .278 at the plate with a .350 slugging percentage with six Pioneers hitting over .300.

On Monday, Concord also fell to West Virginia State with 5-7 and 1-9. The Mountain Lions enter the complex with a 7-13 overall and 5-7 conference record. Against Concord, opponents have tallied a .305 batting average and .449 slugging percentage.

West Liberty holding a .500 win loss record sits 9-9 and 5-5 on the year and in conference after dropping a pair to Fairmont State and Splitting with Frostburg. Kat Donzella leads the Hilltoppers at the plate with a .415 batting average totaling 22 hits this season.

Wheeling University will face off against West Liberty, Ursuline and Concord prior to the matchup with Pioneers. Currently 5-13 on the season and 4-6 in conference, the Cardinals are led by Cassi Roman and Autumn Oehlstrom with .444 and .380 attacks at the plate.

Pioneer Highlight

With 31 hits this season, Mackenzie Martenelli leads the Pioneers with a .408 batting average with Karra Smith following behind with .338.

Ashley Fridley has crossed the most runs with 17 as Karra Smith has picked up the most doubles with 11.

Kaylee Drake leads the Pioneers with three homeruns.
