Unexpected Outcomes Drop GSC to Fourth in MEC Action After Splitting with Bobcats

Buckhannon, W.Va. – Dropping a vital game against West Virginia Wesleyan College (5-21), Glenville State (14-17, 10-16 MEC) was able to split with the Bobcats in game two as the Pioneers quickly approach the final standings of the season.

How It Happened
 
Game One:
 
Quickly putting pressure on the Bobcat defense, Zack Morris would stand on first and score off Duane Englund's double to center. However, WVWC answered back by scoring four.
 
The Pioneers took the lead in the fourth at 4-5 as Ryker Rivera singled to right and scored off Christian Davila's single to center. Davonte Rose then drew a walk as Mathew Mangum forced another WVWC error scoring Davila and Rose tying the game at 4-4. Then Tre'von Smith hit a sacrifice fly scoring Mangum to lead 5-4.
 
The Bobcats however would tie the game in the sixth then load the bases with two outs. The Bobcats scored on a passed ball to win their fifth ball game of the season 6-5.
 
Adam Riggleman pitched 4.2 innings shutting down five Bobcats but gave up four walks however, Chase Swain took the loss on the mound
 
Game Two:
 
Opening game two, Mathew Mangum drew a walk that would result in the Pioneers first run of the contest with Zach Morris following behind scoring off Shane Talvacchio's forced Bobcat error.
 
Ryan Rodrigiez triped to right and scored off Mangum's single to left as Mangum would also score off Tre'von Smith's RBI single to left. Then extending the Pioneer's lead to 5-0, Ryker Rivera hit a single to score Morris.
 
WVWC swiped a run in the third but would not effect GSC's offense as they tallied another run in the fourth scoring Mangum off a single to third base, hit by Duane Englund.
 
Adding another run to the score board was Wesleyan in sixth, cutting their deficit 6-2.
 
Shane Talvacchio doubled to right field and scored off Christian Davila's double to left. Then scoring Devante Rose who replaced Davila at second was Ryan Rodriguez, putting the Blue and White up 8-0.
 
Diego Tamariz earned the win on the mound as he tallied five strikeouts giving up just six hits.

Tre'von Smith, Christian Davlia and Ryan Rodrigiez led the pack with three hits each on the day.
 
Mathew Mangum, Duane Englund and Ryker Rivera all had two hits.
