GSU Volleyball Defeats Concord 3-0 on the Road in MEC Clash

Glenville State's Women's Volleyball defeated the Mountian Lions of Concord University 3-0. As a team, the Lady Pioneers finished the match with 10 service aces. Glenville improves their record to 13-8 overall and 2-3 in Mountain East Conference Play.

In the first set, both teams battled each other throughout the frame. The set would be tied up five separate times before the Pioneers created separation at the 15-15 mark. Trailing by two points the Lady Pioneers rattled off a 9-0 run leading the frame 19-16. A Kill by Lauryn O'Lenic sparked Glenville's late run. Glenville produced another run towards the end of the set propelling the Pioneers to take the frame 25-17. This time a service ace by Zoe Schmidt started the Lady Pioneers' stretch of six straight points.

Glenville would jump to an early 6-2 lead creating separation early for the Pioneers. After trailing by four the Mountain Lions continued to keep the frame within two points. The Lady Pioneers opened up the set with a 7-2 run halfway through the stanza growing their lead to 16-8. Freshman Rita Kelly propelled the Pioneer's run along with Katarzyna Niderla. Glenville would go on to win the frame 25-15 leading the match 2-0

In the third and final set, Glenville led the entire match. Katarzyna Niderla helped the Pioneers strat the frame 3-0. Understanding the importance of the set Concord would keep the set within two to three points until the 10-6 mark. The Lady Pioneers produced a 6-3 run halfway through the stanza creating separation. Glenville would go on to win the set 25-18 closing out the match.

Katarzyna Niderla led the team and match in kills with 15 followed by Freshman Rita Kelly with seven. Setter Sarah Grainger produced 28 assists for the Lady Pioneers. Defensively, Helín Halden and Zoe Schmidt led the Pioneers in digs with 26.
