Lady Pioneers Warp Up Regular Season With a Win Over Concord 3-0 on Senior Night.

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State's Volleyball team defeated the Mountain Lions of Concord University 3-0 completing the season sweep. The Lady Pioneers finish the regular season with (16-16), which is the best finish in 22 years. Glenville finished the match with ten more service aces than Concord.

In the first set, Lady Pioneer jumped to an early 9-4 with Katarzyna Niderla, Bryanne Tustin, Rita Kelly, and Zoe Schmidt all producing. Concord continued to claw at Glenville's lead shrinking it to two points. During this stretch, the Mountain Lions would take advantage of four consecutive errors made by the Pioneers. While Glenville produced 12 service aces in tonight's match, the Lady Pioneers committed 15 service errors. With kills by Schmidt and Kelly, the Pioneers regained their five-point lead. However, this time Concord was able to gain the lead 21-22. Taking four out of the next five Glenville closed out the first set winning 25-23.

Both squads battled it out in the second frame. There would be a total of 22 ties and 10 lead changes in the second frame The largest lead came at the 23-20 mark where the Pioneers had the advantage. Both Concord and Glenville late had chances to close the set but both teams answered each other's late pushes. After a kill by Hannah Steele gave the Mountain Lions the lead 31-30, the Lady Pioneers rattled of three consecutive points. A Kill by Katarzyna Niderla started to swing the momentum in favor of the Pioneers and a service ace by Helín Halden ended the frame 33-31.

Concord would come out firing on all cylinders in the third set taking a 9-5 lead. The Pioneers were able to overcome the Mountain Lions' early lead. A 9-2 run late swung the frame in the Pioneers favor. During this stretch, Glenville produced kills of their own and took advantage of attack errors made by Concord. A service ace by Mackenzie Reynolds and a Kill by Katarzyna Niderla from Sarah Grainger closed out the set and match for the Lady Pioneers. 

Senior Lindsay Winkler led the match in digs with 25 folwed by Madison Shepherd and Zoe Schmidt with 10. Winkler would also produce 3 assists and two aces. Setter Sarah Grainger accounted for 42 assists in tonight's match. Katarzyna Niderla led Glenville in kills with 17 and aces with four. Freshman Nalaina Funk was solid for the Pioneers in front of the net producing eight blocks.
