GLENVILLE – Coach Jimmy Mullins' baseball team produced a signature early season win
Saturday afternoon, defeating nationally ranked Mercyhurst 4-2 at the Sue Morris Complex. GSU received another stellar start from pitcher
Adam Riggleman in defeating the 19
th ranked Lakers.
Riggleman went six innings, giving up four hits and two runs. He struck out six while walking four, running his record to 3-0.
Offensively, GSU received multi-hit games from
Mitch Lohr and
Ryan Rodriguez as each hitter collected two hits. This was on the heels of five-hit night from Rodriguez
on Friday night against Kutztown. Rodriguez and
Calen Kampes recorded the two RBI's registered on the day.
Chase Swain pitched three shutout innings in relief of Riggleman to gain the save. He only gave up one hit, and struck out four.
GSU is now 9-1 on the young season. They close this weekend's tournament on Sunday, hosting the strong Millersville squad
at 11:00 AM.
