GLENVILLE – Glenville's Softball team enters Mountain East Conference play this weekend at the Sue Morris Complex. Coach Sara Scoone's squad hosts West Virginia State on Saturday on Doug Morris Field, and the University of Charleston on Sunday.
Glenville battled through a tough non-conference schedule, posting a pre-league record of 4-8. The GSU offense has been on-point with the offense to date, hitting .287 as a team, with 22 extra-base hits through 12 games. They have four starters hitting over .300; Haylee Stevens (.371), Monica Rodelo (.344), Addison Aguiniga (.333), and Jasmine Runk (.321).
Right-hander Holly Brehm has been the anchor of the pitching staff, starting seven games. She currently holds a 3-2 record, and struck out 59 hitters in 39.0 innings of work. She carries a 3.46 ERA into league play.
State and Charleston have also played strong non-conference schedules as well. State enters Saturday with a 3-9 mark, while Charleston goes into the weekend with a 6-8 overall mark.
First pitch is set for 2:00 each afternoon.
