The Lady Pioneers Defeat Bluefield State on the Road 3-0

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State's Women's Volleyball team defeated the Big Blue of Bluefield State Sunday afternoon on the road 3-0. The Lady Pioneers improve their record to 11-5 right before conference play.

In the first set, Glenville and Bluefield State battled for the early lead. The Lady Pioneers gained a five-point lead halfway through the match. The Pioneers took advantage of service error by the Big Blue. Bluefield state tried to chip away at Glenville's lead multiple times throughout the set but the Pioneers had an answer. A kill by Helín Halden closed out the frame for the Pioneers. Glenville would take the first set 25-20 and led the match 1-0.

Halfway through the frame, the Lady Pioneers produced a dominant 8-2 stretch taking the lead 13-9. The Pioneers would need another late run to take the set after Bluefield State answered Glenville's run. A kill by Katarzyna Niderla propelled the Lady Pioneers to take the second set 25-20.

In the third and final set, the Pioneers rode the momentum from the last set to create an 11-2 lead right out of the gate.
