The Lady Pioneers opened the first day of the Bald Eagle Classic at Lock Haven with two wins over D'Youville and Lake Erie. The Pioneers would win both matches 3-1, extending their winning streak to five straight matches.

In the first match against the D'Youville Saints, Glenville would open the first set taking five out of the first seven points of the frame. D'Youville would answer the early run by the Lady Pioneers scoring the next four points of the set. Both squads continued to answer any separation their opponent would try to create. The Pioneers would take a 15-11 lead halfway through the set. Glenville would ride the momentum from a service error by D'Youville's Eve Musielak and back-to-back service aces by
Zoe Schmidt to create separation. However, the Saints would respond to the Lady Pioneer's run to lead the set 19-17. A kill by Freshman
Malerie Ross and an error by D'Youville would seal the first frame for Glenville 26-24.

Glenville riding the momentum from the first set would take the second frame. After trailing the set 3-1 the Lady Pioneers would take 10 out of the next 12 points to break away from the Saints giving Glenville a 12-6 lead. Kills by Nalainia Funk,
Rita Kelly, and
Lauryn O'Lenic later in the second set would stretch Glenville's lead to seven making the score 22-15. The Lady Pioneers would win the second frame of the match from an attack error by D'Youville.

In the third set of the match, the Pioneers would drop the set 26-24. Once again both teams would answer each other's runs. The Saints of D'Youville would have two separate four point runs late in the match giving them the edge. Glenville would close out the fourth set of the match 25-19. Glenville once again would take an early lead in the match. The Lady Pioneers would take a commanding 21-9 lead. D'Youville late in the match would take advantage of four straight errors made by Glenville. However, the Lady Pioneers' impressive start would seal the set for Glenville. Â

The Pioneers would finish the match with a season high in kills with 57.
Rita Kelly led the Lady Pioneers with 14. Junior Katarzyna Niderla produced 21 digs for the Pioneers and four aces.
Sydney Goodrich finished the match with five aces, six kills, and 14 assists. Â

Match Two

Lake Erie gained an early advantage in the match over the Pioneers in the first set giving them a 6-3 lead. The Lady Pioneers would fight back early in the set shrinking Lake Erie's lead to one. The Storm continued to extend their lead giving Lake Erie a seven-point lead 18-11. Glenville after Lake Erie's run, would string together four points to narrow the lead. However, the Storm would end the frame on a 7-4 run to win the set.

The Pioneers would respond in the second set to tie the match. Glenville and Lake Erie traded blows until midway through the second set. The Lady Pioneers would rally to take seven of the next nine points to take a 16-12 lead.
Sydney Goodrich's Kill created the spark the Pioneers needed to create separation in the set. Later in the second set the Lady Pioneers would take advantage of three straight errors by Lake Erie to lead the match late 23-16. After taking a nine-point lead, the Pioneers would not look back and win the set 25-20.

The final two sets of the match tested and challenged the Lady Pioneers. In both sets the Pioneers would have to overcome late leads by Lake Erie. In the third set, the Storm would produce a late 21-13 lead.
Julia King's kill created the much-needed spark the Pioneers were searching for. Glenville would take nine out of the next ten points of the frame to tie the set at 22-22. Lake Erie would continue to put the pressure on the Pioneers by scoring the next two points. The Lady Pioneers persevered and would take the last four points of the set to lead the 2-1. In the final set of the match Glenville would take the lead halfway through the match 15-11. The storm would chip away at the Pioneers lead taking the lead late 25-24. Once again, the Lady Pioneers produced a late run to seal the match. Sarah Grainger's ace concluded the final set winning Glenville the match.

The Lady Pioneers as a team produced eight aces during the match. Katarzyna Niderla led the Pioneers in kills with 14 and led the team in aces with three. Senior Defensive Specialist

The Lady Pioneers will play their last two games of the Bald Eagle Classic. Glenville will face D'Youville at 11:00 AM. The Pioneers second match of the day will be against the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven. This marks the second matchup between Glenville and Lock Haven this season. The Pioneers defeated the Bald Eagles 3-1 in the Top Hat Classic.
