GSU Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short at Home Against Notre Dame College

Glenville, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball team dropped a close one to The Falcons Of Notre Dame College. It would be a back-and-forth affair with the lead changing 23 times and 14 ties. While the Pioneers hit a total of nine threes, the Falcon's 57% shooting from beyond the arc in the second half propelled Notre Dame College past GSU 97-93

Early in the first half, the contest started as a defensive battle with neither team hitting their first four shots. Harrison Eghan with the putback layup got the Pioneers going offensively. On Glenville State's next possession, Jordan Turbo Smith connected from beyond the arc giving Glenville the advantage 5-0. Before the First media timeout, Daylin Lee made a layup to make it a one-possession game.

Coming out of the timeout both offenses found their rhythm and started to produce. Throughout the next five minutes, both squads tripled their production from the beginning of the contest. An 8-3 run by Notre Dame College gave the Falcons their largest lead of the first half. While NDC had the slight advantage they would hold onto it until the 3:02 mark.

Jordan Turbo Smith was able to finish through contact and got sent to the charity stripe. Smith converted the and one to put GSU up by one in the final stretch of the first half. After a pair of free throws by the Falcons cut the Pioneer's advantage down to one once again Jay Scott came in clutch. With 58 seconds left Scott hit his second three-pointer of the contest. With Pioneers getting the rim and hitting high-quality attempts from the field, GSU was able to keep up with Notre Dame College's three-point shooting.

At the 15:57 mark Coach Caldwell's Pioneers jumped out to a two-possession advantage. Once again the Falcons would connect from deep halting any momentum gained by GSU. After a quiet first half from NDC's Jaedon Willis, the Senior went off in the second half scoring 20 points. With Jacquez Yow and Harrison Eghan exploiting the paint GSU continued to trade blows with the Falcons.

In the final three minutes, Notre Dame College held a three-point on five separate occasions and eventually lead by seven with 41 seconds left.
