CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Soccer team fell to the ninth-ranked Charleston Golden Eagles 6-1 tonight in the Capital City. UC fired off 27 shots, holding the Pioneers to just six.
The game's first goal wouldn't be scored until the 24th minute when Charleston's Angela Gatto found the back of the net. Seven minutes later, the lead would be extended to 2-0 but the Pioneers were quick to answer back with a goal of their own. At the 34th minute, Mackenzie Hendricks scored on a pass from Irene Robles. Charleston made it 3-1 at the half after scoring at the 44th minute. Three more goals in the second half by UC capped off the 6-1 victory.
The Final Stats
Mackenzie Hendricks had the lone goal and Irene Robles had the assist for the Pioneers. Mikayla Brown recorded eight saves in the loss.
Six different Golden Eagles scored tonight. Lina Jaime had two of the four assists as well. Two different goalkeepers saw action, led by Caroline Stahlmann's three saves.
