GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team fell to the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets 3-0 tonight inside the Waco Center. WVSU tallied 48 kills in the win.
The Yellow Jackets opened the first set up 11-1. The Pioneers got down by as much as 14 but cut the deficit to 10 before WV State closed out the first set 25-13.
Glenville State stayed in it much longer in the second set, only trailing 9-7 at one point. The Yellow Jacket attack became too much later on, scoring the final eight points and winning set two 25-12.
Much like the first set, WVSU came out firing in the third set, going up 8-0 before Nalaina Funk broke the ice with a Pioneer kill. The Yellow Jackets pushed onward to the end of the set, taking the third set 25-10 and completing the 3-0 sweep.
The Final Stats
Rita Kelly reached double-digits in kills tonight with 10. Sarah Grainger had 18 assists and Lindsay Winkler recorded 17 digs.
Kaitlyn Cabral (13) and Jacklyn Simms (12) both had double-digit kills. Diamond'Nique Young added nine. Kiersten Eggleton totaled 32 assists while also having 13 digs.
