INSTITUTE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Volleyball team dropped a road match this evening at West Virginia State 3-0. The Yellow Jackets recorded 49 kills and held the Pioneers to just one service ace in the win.
WVSU used multiple runs in the opening set to win 25-11. In the second set, West Virginia State had a comfortable lead but the Pioneers were able to trim the deficit to just five late. However, WVSU held on 25-19. GSU went up 14-11 in the third set, looking to take their first set of the game. The Yellow Jackets would go on a 14-1 to close out the set and match, completing the sweep.
The Final Stats
Rita Kelly's 11 kills led the Pioneers. Sarah Grainger put in 22 assists while also having eight digs. Sydney Goodrich recorded 11 digs to lead the team in the loss.
Jacklyn Simms had 15 kills while Diamond'Nique Young added 13 kills. Kiersten Eggleton finished with 25 assists and Peri Martin chimed in with 14 assists. Simms was also the leader in digs with 15.
