Preview: Pioneer Men’s Basketball Sets Eyes on New Week

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball opens up a new week of play tomorrow (Nov. 29) at Notre Dame College and will host Salem on Saturday (Dec. 2). Saturday's matchup with the Tigers will make the third-consecutive Saturday that the Pioneers have been at home.

THE OPPONENTS 
NOTRE DAME COLLEGE 
The Falcons enter (2-2, 1-1 MEC) following a 109-84 defeat at #2 West Liberty last Tuesday. NDC opened up MEC play with a 79-66 victory over Wheeling on Nov. 18. 

Mark Richmond is in his fifth season leading the Notre Dame College MBB program. Richmond has led the Falcons to the MEC Tournament all four years and has accumulated 51 total victories since taking over in 2018-19. NDC won their most games under Richmond last season, finishing with 17 victories overall and 12 in the league. Prior to Notre Dame, he spent two seasons as Director of Basketball Operations at Youngstown State. 

RJ Ogom is the leading scorer for the Falcons, averaging 17.0 PPG. Ogom is second on the team in rebounding at 6.3 RPG as well. Devin Haid (14.8 PPG) and Gbolahan Adio (12.8 PPG) also average double figures to aid the offense. Andre Harris is averaging a near double-double, putting up 9.8 PPG and 9.5 RPG. Robbie Cass' 2.3 APG leads the team followed by Adio's 2.0 APG. 

SALEM 
The Tigers come in (1-4), not playing since Nov. 21 against Wheeling where SU was defeated 75-62. Salem and Glenville State met earlier in the year at the Atlantic Region Challenge in Charleston with the Tigers winning 112-100. Before meeting with GSU on Saturday, SU will play Concord on Wednesday. 

Vincent Thibodeau is in his first season leading Salem after a short stint as an assistant at DI James Madison. He was also an assistant under Brett Rector at Salem in 2021-22. Thibodeau has also coached at Western Michigan, VMI and Michigan-Dearborn. 

Ashraf Tchadouwa has been on a tear this season, averaging 16.4 PPG, 10.6 RPG and 1.2 blocks per game (BPG). The Tigers offense has five other players averaging nine or more PPG as well. Brandon Francois is dishing out 3.2 APG and swiping 2.6 SPG, which leads the team in both categories. 

THE PIONEERS 
GLENVILLE STATE 
The Pioneers enter the week (2-3, 1-1 MEC) after defeating Malone 83-69 on Saturday and falling to Charleston 91-83 last Tuesday. 

Dominiq Penn (14.2 PPG), Devin Collins (12.6 PPG), Jordan Turbo Smith (12.3 PPG), Jay Scott (11.8 PPG) and James Franklin (10.0 PPG) are leading the Pioneer offense. Remy Lemovou is coming off a double-double performance (14 points, 11 rebounds) against Malone, upping his averages to 9.2 PPG and 6.0 RPG. Smith has not only been effective in the scoring department as he adds 4.8 APG, 4.5 RPG and 2.8 SPG.
