Natalie Barr Becomes First Pioneer in Program History to Earn All-Region

11/4/2023 2:24:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Glenville State Cross Country freshman Natalie Barr made Pioneer XC history today!

The Canvas, West Virginia native raced a sterling personal best of 22:03, placing 25th to earn All-Atlantic Region, navigating Lock Haven's historic West Branch Course in a blistering pace. In fact, she went through the 5K in 18:28, also a personal best.

In doing so, Barr became the first Glenville State runner to ever make the All-Region team! This is even more remarkable of note, considering the Pioneer program has been racing in the NCAA for a full three decades now. Barr was in 29th after the first mile of the race and worked her way up to 26th by the 5K mark. From there, she made a late move down the course's long home stretch to secure the All-Region spot. It was a very fast field in ideal conditions for the 171-runner field. She was the third freshman to cross the line in the race.

Barr's teammates Savannah Cunningham and Samantha Dawson also posted personal 6K bests as well. Cunningham placed 140th in 24:47, and Dawson 141st in 24:52.
