Pioneers Outlasted by Falcons at Home

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team dropped a conference matchup tonight against Fairmont State 82-67, ending the Pioneers three-game winning streak. The Falcons shot 47.5% from the field and garnered 29 bench points in the win.  

The Pioneers started the game with back-to-back threes and held onto a two-point lead at the first media timeout of the half. Fairmont State found their groove shortly after, taking a 20-11 lead and forcing Glenville State to take a timeout with 10 minutes left in the half. GSU cut it back down to 23-21 before FSU went on a 19-4 run to close out the half, taking a commanding 42-25 advantage into the locker room. 

Fairmont State grew their lead to as much as 28 in the second half, starting the second half outscoring the Pioneers 18-7 in the first 12 minutes. Glenville State began to chip away at the deficit, however the Falcons were able to keep GSU at bay and only allow GSU to get within 11, eventually closing the night out with an 82-67 win.  

The Final Stats 
Dominiq Penn had his second-straight 21-point game to lead the Pioneers tonight. Devin Collins added 19 points with four three-pointers and James Franklin finished with 12. Collins also grabbed a team leading six boards in the loss. 

The Falcons were led by Zyon Dobbs' 16 points, followed by Tommy Williams' 13 points, Cameron Whiteside's 11 points and Callum Crossman's 10 points. Whiteside shot 1-9 from the field but went a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. Colin Comer was productive all night, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds.

The Pioneers look to get back in the win column on Saturday as they head north to take on Frostburg State at 4 p.m.
