Pioneer Softball Drops Doubleheader with the Falcons of Notre Dame College

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - Glenville State Softball was back on the road for conference play against the Falcons of Notre Dame College. In game one GSU would control throughout but fell short toward the end. While the Lady Pioneers trailed early they found ways to tie it up. With a strong fourth inning, NDC was able to pull away.

The Lady Pioneers in the first contest got on the board early.  Ashton Palmer led off the contest with a single to left field. Freshman Emma McLean's double put runners in scoring position early for GSU. While Katelyn Richardson groundout to second, she drove in Palmer to make it 1-0. However, Glenville could not score McLean before the end of the frame. 

At the bottom of the fourth Notre Dame found a way to tie it up. The Falcons led off the inning with a single to the outfield. A triple by NDC's Alyssa Wahl scored Collinsworth making it 1-1. 

During the sixth inning, the Lady Pioneers found a way to regain their one-run advantage. After Notre Dame got the first out quickly, a solo shot by Emma McLean made it 2-1. McLean finished the first game a perfect 2-2. 

Holly Brehm got the start for GSU and was effective until the sixth frame producing nine strikeouts. The Falcons completely shifted the momentum in the bottom half of the frame. In the sixth Notre Dame College's bats were on fire producing eight runs. During this stretch, the Falcons had five hits. The Pioneers would have one more chance in the seventh but could not get a run across. 

Game Two Glenville State 1 Notre Dame 4

NDC during game two got on the board first in the second inning. The Falcons led off the inning with a double to center field. While the next batter grounded out Maciejowski was now on third. Emily Marsh's single through the left side made it 1-0. Glenville was able to stop the bleeding and got the third out of the frame.

Later on in the fourth inning, the Lady Pioneers tied it up. Kaelyn Stenger got on first with a single but advanced to second on a throwing error. During Madison Turner's at-bat, Stenger advanced to third on a wild pitch. With Lou Kisner pinch-hitting for Addison Aguiniga, Kisner reached first on an error while scoring Stenger. 

In the bottom half of the inning Notre Dame regained its advantage. Marsh once again was a key contributor for the Falcons. After a two-out walk, Marsh tied it up and advanced to second on an error.  NDC followed it up with a single to the outfield to make it 3-1. Before the end of the contest Notre Dame scored once more giving them a three-run advantage.
