Multiple Pioneers Qualify for Tuesday’s Event Finals

FROSTBURG, Md. - Glenville State Track and Field had another day of solid performances setting up for multiple Pioneers to qualify for tomorrow's Event Finals.  After the second day of competition, Glenville's Men remain in fourth place and GSU's Women have climbed the standings to sixth place. 

Men's Highlights

On the men's side, Glenville State had success in the field events. Brandon Bowie and Charlie Bauman had solid performances in the shot put. Brandon with a throw of 13.54 placed fifth earning GSU four points. Bauman was just one-hundredth of a meter behind Bowie finishing sixth. In the Pole Vault Haden Coon placed third securing a podium finish and an all-conference nod.

The Pioneer's success in the field events continued in the discus. Brandon Bowie, Charlie Bauman, Michael Clay, and Ian Bellar all qualified for the finals. Out of the four Bowie had the highest finish placing fourth.  Bauman, Clay, and Bellar rounded out the top eight securing six more points for Glenville.

Women's Highlights

Koschinya Jefferson wrapped up the heptathlon with a second-place finish. Jefferson continued to have solid performances throughout the remainder of the day. The Newport News, Va. native secured a spot in the finals of the 100, 200, and 100-meter hurdles. Koschinya also earned the Pioneers points in the shot put placing fourth with a throw of 11.63 meters. 

The results continued to roll in for Glenville State with Kimberly Halsey placing in the top five in the Pole Vault while setting a new personal best. Freshman Bridgette Knapp secured more points for the Pioneers in the high jump. In her first outdoor championship, Knapp finished fifth with a jump of 1.47 meters.  In the 400-meter hurdles Glenville's youth continued to have success. Janel Mitchell with a time of 1:08.37 qualified for the finals. 

Fans can view the results from day two in the link below. The final day of the 2023 Mountain East Conference Track and Field Championship will begin tomorrow at noon with the women's 4x100 relay.
