PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Glenville State Women's Soccer team tied with Lake Erie College this afternoon 2-2 on the road. The Pioneers produced five shots while the Storm had four.
1st Half
The match started out slow with neither team getting a shot off until the 24-minute mark with Lake Erie's Ainsley MacKenzie kicking it too far left. Six minutes later, Glenville's Sofia Hernandez had a shot on goal but it was saved by Morgan Vanmeter.
Both squads remained quiet until the horn sounded for halftime. In the half, the teams only managed to get off one shot each.
2nd Half
Lake Erie dominated offensively in the first 22 minutes of the new half. At the 58th minute, Ainsley Mackenzie found the back of the net to give LEC the 1-0 lead. Brooklyn Watts had a shot on goal at the 63-minute mark, however it would be saved low by Vanmeter. At the 67th minute, the Storm added onto their lead with a goal by Ava Finfrock.
The Pioneers didn't' waste too much time getting back into the game as Merel Smets scored her third goal of the year at the 68-minute mark to cut the Lake Erie lead in half. Eight minutes later, freshman Aitana Viejo netted her second goal of the year to tie the game up at two. Viejo's goal was the last bit of offensive production either team had, ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
The Final Stats
Merel Smets and Aitana Viejo both recorded a goal for the Pioneers. Sofia Hernandez had a shot on goal as well.
Ainsley MacKenzie and Ava Finfrock scored the two goals for the Storm. Morgan Vanmeter finished with two saves.

The Pioneers hit the road once again on Sunday evening as they travel to Institute to take on West Virginia State at 6 p.m.
