Pioneers Road Struggles Continue in Loss at Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team had their road struggles continue tonight in their 101-79 loss at Concord. The Mountain Lions shot 58% from the field and knocked down 11 three-pointers en route to the 22-point victory.

Concord held the Pioneers scoreless for the first three minutes of the contest until Dominiq Penn connected from behind the arc to put GSU on board. By the under 15 media timeout, CU led 19-3. Their first half dominance continued with a 13-2 run midway through, pushing the advantage to 42-13. The Pioneers were able to piece together some offense late in the half but trailed the Mountain Lions 62-29 at the break.

It was a much better half offensively for GSU in the second half, however the deficit was already too big to overcome. Concord grew their biggest lead of the game (42) with 12 minutes remaining in the game and the Pioneers were able to trim that deficit nearly in half by the time the final buzzer sounded. The Pioneers pieced together 50 points in the 2nd half but it was much too late as CU finished out the 101-79 win.

The Final Stats
Devin Collins led all scorers with 20 points while connecting on five three-pointers. DiShon DD Daniels (12 points), Jay Scott (12 points) and Trevor Chandler (10 points) all reached double figures as well. Chandler led the rebounding efforts with five and Jordan Turbo Smith had three assists in the loss.

Seven Mountain Lions scored double digits tonight, led by Amare Smith's 13 points. Five scored 12 points and Rene Diop had 11 points. JJ Harper and Jevon Laidler had six rebounds each and Corey Boston dished out five assists for CU.
