Men’s Basketball Defeats Frostburg State to Secure Sixth MEC Victory

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team got back in the win column tonight with an 80-70 victory over Frostburg State inside the Waco Center. Neither team shot over 40% from the field but the Pioneers were able to connect on 12 three-pointers and force 16 turnovers in the win.

Both squads came out of the gates slow until the Pioneers were able to connect on consecutive three-pointers from Jay Scott and Devin Collins to take a 15-6 lead seven minutes into the game. GSU began to control the pace of the game and knock down shots in continuous possessions, building the advantage to 16. FSU trimmed it to 11 but Jordan Turbo Smith netted a three right before the half to give the Pioneers a 40-26 lead.

The lead then grew to 18 in the 2nd half, but Frostburg State used a 9-0 run to cut the deficit down to single digits with 13 minutes left in the game. Though GSU held off countless comeback attempts from the Bobcats, it would eventually become just a six-point game with around a minute remaining. Free throws down the stretch by Antoine Boyd Jr. and Trevor Chandler sealed the deal in Glenville's 80-70 victory.

The Final Stats
Devin Collins led the Pioneers with 16 points, drilling four three-pointers on the night. Jordan Turbo Smith and DiShon DD Daniels both added 11 points while Jay Scot rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10. Trevor Chandler had seven boards and Rye Gadd dished out seven assists in the win.

Logan Lewis recorded a game-high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Justin Roseme was the only other scorer to reach double figures with 13 points. Jaylon Johnson aided with nine points and a team leading three assists.
