GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team recorded a blowout win over Penn State Fayette today inside the Waco Center, defeating the Nittany Lions 116-65. Akron mid-year transfer Prince Mosengo shined in his debut with the Pioneers, helping bring another inside scorer and rebounder as GSU shot 49% from the field and grabbed 70 team rebounds.
Glenville came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a 19-3 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Fayette cut the deficit down to 11 before the Pioneers boosted the advantage back up to 19 at the under 10 media timeout. GSU was flying all over the place as James Franklin created highlight after highlight with a pair of dunks that got the Pioneer faithful going. Another run at the end of the half allowed the Pioneers to take a comfortable 64-24 lead into the locker room.
Trevor Chandler found his groove in the second half, scoring the first seven points for the Pioneers. A good mix of guard scoring and inside scoring by the bigs increased the GSU lead to 93-38 with 10 minutes left in the game. Glenville made sure to make a few more highlight reel plays while also getting everyone involved in the scoring, eventually closing out the 116-65 victory.
The Final Stats
14 Pioneers were featured in the scoring column with five reaching double figures. James Franklin led all Pioneer scorers with 16 points while adding six rebounds. Prince Mosengo had an impressive debut, scoring 14 points with seven boards and one block. Trevor Chandler finished with a near double-double (13 points, nine rebounds) and Devin Collins did have a double-double, closing the night out with 10 points and 13 rebounds. DiShon DD Daniels ended the win with 13 points.
Dasilas Jones connected on six three-pointers en route to his 34-point performance. He also pulled down five rebounds and three steals. Matt Forbes was the only other Nittany Lion with double digits, finishing with 11 points. Emmanuel Dotson led the rebounding efforts with eight.
