Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | GSU Sports Information

Hot Start by D&E Too Much for Pioneers on the Road

ELKINS, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell on the road to Davis & Elkins 92-75 tonight in MEC action. GSU shot 32% from the field while D&E shot 42% from the field and 41% from behind the arc en route to the win.

The Senators opened the first 10 minutes of the game with seven three-pointers, jumping out to a 28-9 lead. D&E controlled the pace and forced the Pioneers into 11 first half turnovers as well as holding them to 6-34 shooting from the field. The Senators used 10 three-pointers and a sluggish start by the Pioneers to take a 50-23 lead into the locker room.

At the start of the second half, it looked to be much of the same story as the Pioneers fell behind by as much as 31. With around 11 minutes to go, GSU trimmed the deficit to 19 and eventually made it a 13-point game with seven and a half minutes to go. That's as close as Davis & Elkins would allow the Pioneers to get, extending their advantage back up to 19 and closing the Pioneers out, winning 92-75.

The Final Stats
Dominiq Penn led the Pioneers, scoring 15 points and grabbing five rebounds. Penn knocked down four three-pointers as well. Jordan Turbo Smith returned from injury, putting up 13 points and four boards. Prince Mosengo (11 points) and Jay Scott (11 points) also finished in double figures. Mosengo led all Pioneers in rebounding with six.

Sam Rolle IV had 28 points, three rebounds, three assists and six steals to lead the Senators. Vadim Clanet had 15 points and Tristan Starks finished with 11 points to aid the offense. In total, 10 Senators scored in the win.
