Barr Tops Own School Record, Pioneer Men Have Best Race of Season

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Glenville State Cross Country teams raced one final time before the Mountain East Conference Championship today, running in Pittsburgh at Schenley Park. The Pioneer men had their best 8k race of the season while Natalie Barr topped her own school record in the 5k.

The Women
Natalie Barr's 18:35 finish beats her old school record of 18:48, allowing her to finish in 3rd place. Jenna Barnett crossed the line at 19:52, placing 23rd. Katie Hicks improved her time and #8 all-time spot, finishing at 20:19 (33rd place). Abby Dixon (20:50, 57th) and Hannah Rowan (21:24, 71st) both PR'd while Savannah Cunningham (21:55, 77th), Hannah Hill (22:58, 92nd) and Sara Lowe (27:45, 116th) rounded out the Pioneer women.

The Men
Patrick Reilly secured a top 10 finish for the Pioneers, placing 10th with a time of 26:01. Nick Pitchford placed 17th, crossing at 26:31. Jackson Mallett ran at 27:35 to take 43rd place, Bryan Utt took 66th with a time of 28:17, Caden Davis was 73rd at 28:39, Daniel Kargol took 80th place at 29:14 and Devan Lawson finished with a time of 32:06 for 114th. It was a PR day for Dylan Blackshire (27:48, 52nd), Isaac Slater (28:28, 69th), Elijah Armes (30:35, 96th), Alex Rogerson (30:37, 98th), Cameron Maurer (30:51, 100th) and Spencer Nolan (31:47, 111th).

"Four years of coming to this meet, this is the best I have ever seen our group execute this course. We wanted today to be a positive step forward heading into the conference meet, and it was that and more" said Head Coach Dan Meyers.

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers will race at the Mountain East Conference Championship on Oct. 26 at Oglebay Resort.
