GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Volleyball team fell in four sets to Salem on Friday night inside the Waco center.
The first set was controlled by the Tigers as they won the set handily, 25-14, however the Pioneers would jump out to an early let in set two at 7-1, but the set would ultimately be tied at 25 after a Tiger service error. GSU would win set two by a score of 28-26. Set three was a back-and-forth affair as there were multiple lead changes throughout. GSU would have the lead at 20-18, but Salem would win the next seven points and win the set, 25-20. With GSU needing a win in set four to extend the match, they jumped out to an early 3-1 lead. Salem pushed to a18-17 lead later in the set and eventually won the fourth and final set, 26-24.

Salem's offense was a balanced attack on Friday evening, having three players with eight or more kills. Noemi Combi had 11, MaKenna Long also had 11 and Valentina Poti chipped in with eight. Defensively, the Tigers tallied 67 total digs, with Poti having 16 and Kayla Holbrook recording 14. Hailey Haynes also tallied one block in the game.

GSU was led in kills by Rita Kelly with 13,and true freshman Keleigh Chrisman with 12. Deniz Selen-Yazar also chipped in eight kills. Sadie Hill was the leading setter for the Pioneers, tallying 28 on the night and Bella Baragona added 12. Defensively, the Pioneers were led by Bryanne Tustin as she racked up 21 digs in the game and Selen-Yazar had five blocks while Chrisman had three.
